BucksMTB offers various type of regular cross country (XC) group rides throughout the year. Our public open rides are open to Club members and non members (visitor riders*).
Our Club Member only rides and Club Trips and Away Days are only open to official Club Members.
Open Group Rides
All local riders are welcome to our open group rides. Non member visiting riders may join us on up to two rides before having to join the Club as a Club member due to our Club insurance and rules of our Club Constitution. You can of course join BucksMTB as a Club Member at any point, but we do invite you to join us for a group ride first to see if you like the Club, the staff, the members and the trails!
We hold at least one open group ride per calendar month. Most rides are local Buckinghamshire/Chilterns based rides, but occasionally we do alternate further away locations in a surrounding county (e.g. Oxon, Herts, Beds etc) or further a field (e.g. Cannock, Wales). Our rides will have a variety of length routes on offer throughout the year so that we can cater for all riders of different fitness levels and experience.
All our Group Rides are led rides, and are led by fully qualified Mountain Bike Trail Leaders (CTC or SMBLA qualified) who hold first aid qualifications.
Families and young riders are all most welcome to our rides too. Under 16s can attend our rides without the supervision of a parent or guardian when our ride is advertised as having qualified staff on duty. We have a parental consent form available at all rides. We have a strict code of conduct and set of procedures for working with minors and vulnerable adults - these documents are available on request.
Mountain bikes, cyclo-cross bikes and eBikes are all accepted at our group rides, as long as they are safe, well maintained and deemed safe on the day by our ride leaders.
Our cross country group rides will be held all over Buckinghamshire and surrounding counties with the options of some 'away' days too.
To attend our Group Rides we require you to pre-register online.
Pre-registering is mandatory to attend our rides and is required so that we know numbers attending, for things such as number of staff required, car parking space, number of maps required etc. Pre-registering is easy, its just an online form that takes about thirty seconds to fill in. For each scheduled Group Ride there will be a page where you can find the online form to fill in and pre-register. Before pre-registering your attendance to any of our Group Ride events please read our terms and conditions.
We are looking forward to meeting all of you local riders at our future Group Ride events.
