Out of the seven attendees there were a great mix of familiar faces and several new faces attending to try out the club before joining in the New Year.
Trail conditions were a mixed bag, some trails rode well, but some inevitably were gloop infested and made for slow progress. Of the twelve mile route I expect with all of today's mud we all probably pedaled at least twenty miles...
A BucksMTB Group Ride just wouldn't be completed without a mechanical or two. Two punctures and a broken chain later we made it back to Coombe Hill a bit behind schedule with the slow progress and time lost to repairs.
Now not for the first time on a BucksMTB ride we did get "attacked" by Henry, a life-strong local Labrador, that tried to assist with our broken chain repairs, how well is up for debate. What I can say however is surprisingly Henry can devour and swallow an entire Endura winter glove (he has good taste at least...), what a lovely Christmas present that will be for the Lab's owner when that reappears later on tonight, but at least the owner said they would post it back...
All in all a short but sweet Christmas ride, with some fun but slippery technical riding, some good banter and a crazy encounter with Henry.
Keep your eyes peeled on our ride calendar for our next upcoming open group ride event - why not come along and try out the Club and ride some new trails?
