What great luck (again)... sun, blue skies, we couldn't have asked for a better day to get the group out on the trails and also promote some fantastic views across the Chiltern Hills. Thirteen of us hit the trails for the day taking in a Chilterns route starting from the Bluebell tea rooms at Marsworth.
The route started from Marsworth taking in off-road sections, some canal sections and some short road sections to add distance. After negotiating the puddles and short term extra "canal sections" around Marsworth, Tring and Cow Roast we ascended up towards Ashridge Monument. Ride leader Paul's now infamous extra "canal section" still existed - two weeks on and still easily a frame bottle cage deep flooded road section with delightful hidden potholes!
After a singletrack entrance up to Ashridge Monument the group took the chance (and excuse) for a quick break and enjoy a brew and some of the cafe's infamous scones. After the tea break the route took us out on some fun singletrack out towards Ivinghoe beacon before looping back around to Marsworth again.
A massive thank you to everyone who attended this ride - we did have quite a large number of people drop out for various reasons on the lead up to the event but even with that in mind we still had a fantastic turn out of thirteen people which included new faces, returning visitors and club members. We had a fantastic group of new novice riders who all excelled throughout the day and benefited from some bike setup and riding technique coaching throughout the day. All in all it was a very wet but fantastic route considering the time of year in some gorgeous weather. A big thank you as well to our new ride leaders Ian and Paul that did a fantastic job leading this fantastic "taste of the Chilterns" route.
Our next BucksMTB Group Ride is on the 23rd March, and our next CycleChilterns Group Ride is on the 6th April, details of both avaialble shortly on our Group Rides page
