Club Member Trips

BucksMTB offers regular Club away days and Club trips for our Club members throughout the year to cover all MTB disciplines but primarily of a cross country (XC) genre.

Our Club away days and Club trips are open to only official club members and not to visiting riders, however you can of course join the Club as a member to be able to attend.

We hold a large number of Club away days (single day) and Club trips (single or multi-day), some run by staff ride leaders and others run by the club members.

Our away days tend to include day trips to a variety of locations up and down the UK with the option of a variety of length routes on offer so that we can cater for all riders of different fitness levels and experience. Examples of away day locations include places such as Cannock Chase (Staffordshire), Swinley Forest (Bracknell), The Brecon Beacons, The Maleverns and lots of Welsh locations such as Afan, Bike Park Wales, Coed Y Brenin, Cwm Carn, Afan Forest Park, Coed Llandegla, Nant yr Arian and Gwydyr forest.

Our Club trips tend to be held on a one, two, or three day option allowing you to be able to attend any combination of days to suit work and family life. Examples of some fantastic trips we have held in the past are visits to Snowdonia, Mount Snowdon, Brecon Beacons, The Yorkshire Dales, The Lake District, The Peak District, Gisburn Forest, Lee Quarry, Afan, Coed Llandegla, Nant yr Arian, Gwydyr forest, Scotland and the French Alps. Plenty more return trips of all of these locations are planned as well as many other exciting locations too.

To attend our Club rides, Club away days or Club trips you do need to be an official paid up Club member, you can join and purchase membership online this website.

We look forward to welcoming you to the Club as a member and showing you around some of the fantastic trails the UK has to offer.

Club Trip to Spain 2016 Report

We're apparently kindly known for putting on a good club trip, generally planned around riding, food and cake (you have to have priorities) but there was a new suggestion last year to take BucksMTB international, and where better to go than to southern Spain for some dusty technical summer riding!

Club member Mike Haynes heads our unofficial Staffordshire based office and kindly took on the role of organising this club trip. Mike suggested the Sierra MTB team in Fuengirola near Malaga as he had visited twice before. With a location and dates set word was sent round to see who was interested and the easyJet flights and accommodation was booked.

BucksMTB at the 'Ard Rock Enduro 2015

The 'Ard Rock Enduro takes place in the stunning Yorkshire Dales National Park. The route takes in natural rcoky descents including rock strewn terrain only rideable during the event itself. All the riding is incorporated into a big day out in the Dales and is topped off with live music, local grub, beer and a BBQ or two!

The 'Ard Rock Enduro is fast becoming one of the most popular and exciting weekends on the mountain bike calendar, it was only a matter of time before BucksMTB members wanted in on the action!

Yorkshire Dales Club Trip May 2015

One of our most popular club trips over the years has been our annual visit North to the Yorkshire Dales. Our annual pilgrimage always takes us to the Dales Bike Centre, a fantastic family run hub for the whole weekend. Advertised as the centre of trails The Dales Bike Centre packs plenty of B&B accommodation, catering, daytime café, twenty-four hour cake access, bike storage, a well equipped bike shop and an endless supply of ride recommendations all under the rooves of two beautifully restored traditional Yorkshire stone buildings. Did I also mention twenty-four cake access?!

Shropshire Club Trip Weekend

A new location on our club trip calendar this year was the Shropshire Hills. A couple of club members had seen some articles and adverts for Shropshire mountain biking and also for the new local Shropshire Hills Mountain Bike And Outdoor Pursuit Centre setup. It was decided it was time to organise a new trip t'up North. After a few people had fallen by the wayside for life, work or injury we had seven people planned to head up for this trip.

shropshire hills

As with most of our club trips they are planned on a flexible three day criteria where our members can attend any combination of a single, twin or all three days. Accommodation this time round was in the Hobbit-esque wooden camping pods based at the all encompassed trail centre setup include bike shop, accommodation, cafe and pub!

The Long Mynd, is part of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is a series of hills with steep gullies locally known as Batches. A lot of the main riding in the Shropshire Hills works with trails going up and down The Long Mynd ridge line. The local riding includes some infamous trails regularly utilised by magazines such as MBR and Singletrack who use the natural local singletrack trails for bike tests and elaborate photo shoots. There is a trail map available and all the trails have recently been waymarked and numbers from one to fifteeb for ease of navigating. No GPS required.

BucksMTB Yorkshire Dales Club Trip September 2011

For our 2011 Summer Club trip we decided to head to the Yorkshire Dales to take in some very different trails from that offered in the Chiltern Hills. Our choice of venue was the Dales Bike Centre, in Fremington near Richmond in North Yorkshire. The Dales Centre is nicely advertised as the “Centre of trails, not a trail centre” which I thought was a really nice touch.
