Sunday 1st of March was the date for the first round of the Southern XC regional race. The event was held at Black Park Just outside Slough, I have raced here for many years but this was the first year it has been a round of the Southerns. The course was completely flat making it an extremely quick lap, and the ground was quite dry for the amount of recent rain we have had. By the time my race started at 14:06 the course had dried out further from the races held before hand. I was towards the back of the grid and the start pack of 37 riders, I was hoping I could pull off a lightning start and gain some good places.

It has been a long time coming but you, the members, along with our ride leaders have given us a huge list of new ideas to integrate into our new website. A web redesign was well overdue, and although its taken longer to go live with the new website than anticipated I hope you will all agree it was worth the wait. Amongst other things our new website features a brand new fresh look, an up to date date ride calendar that's easy to add events too, online membership management and payments, secret members areas, interactive menu's and content, social media plugins and loads more. A massive thank you has to go out to club committee member Chris Ailward for his assistance with building the website and also to club member Ant Mitchell for his help with the scary stuff when we ran into some database problems!

In 2006 I met some German gentleman driving an Aston martin around the UK in search of the Aston martin history as to write a book and article. I stumbled across the article recently by accident and translated it (poorly) into English. The article includes reference to me hence why I posted it!

The Original article is online at German AutoCar here
