On a recent trip to the Lake District (unfortunately walking not riding) I came across a UK brand called Velo Culture. Velo Culture creates some amazing handmade upcycled accessories from old punctured inner tubes. These upcycled items are not only gorgeous but also eco-friendly and vegan too. I treated myself to the “Cake stop caddy” a small minimalist wallet designed for cyclists to carry a card, a note and your change (after cake, obviously…). There is a large range available including wallets, bags, chain-link cufflinks, keyrings, phone cases an inner tube belt and loads more. Definitely a must have range of accessories for this year’s Christmas present list. Take a look at the range on Velo Culture’s ETSY page here or on their Facebook page.

Dear Club Members,

At our recent Club Annual General Meeting our members asked for some key updates to the website that we can now say have been successfully implemented!

If you are a registered user (primarily club members) you will receive automatic email notifications any time a new ride is published on our online website events calendar. Any genre of ride (club, open, trip etc) that is published will generate the email notifications. You'll also get an email any time one of these is events is updated or cancelled.

As well as this club members will now get automatic reminders for your membership renewals, and if you are a club member once logged into the website your membership validity will be displayed right at the top of the homepage to make it easier to track your subscription!

All these emails are automated so may well end up initially heading into your junk or spam folder, so please keep an eye out for new messages. All notifications are driven from bucksmtbevents[at]gmail.com so make sure this address is listed in your "safe" contacts list to avoid messages heading into the ether!

I hope these new changes will be well received!

This is a venue that I had not raced at before so I was quite excited to see what all the fuss was about after it was voted as the 2014 Southern XC course of the year.

I had just returned from a week in Wales on the RAF MTB Summer training camp at Afan, and after spending the week riding on rock it was a surprise to be back riding on soft loamy mud!!!

As usual I headed out on my practice laps full of confidence from the work I had been doing on my technical riding, especially on my weakest point which was drop offs. For the first time this year I was able to ride every A-line without hesitation or the need to stop, look and panic!!

It has been a while since my last update and report and several races have been and gone without a race report; read on for the reason why! Due to several missed races I ended the season with a ninth place overall finish in the Southern XC. The rankings are taken on your best five results, unfortunately one of my five results included the race at Wasing where I did not finish.

The National Champs race was back in July, held at the Olympic Park in at Hadleigh Farm. This was a new course to me and a lot of training and prep had gone into this event, this was the event I had been looking forward to so much over the year.
